Clyde E. McKenzie
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
An energy and technology entrepreneur, Mr. McKenzie led a group of investors to purchase Tellurex after extensive due diligence of the firm’s IP; research and development accomplishments; and engineering and design capabilities. For over 25 years, he has been an executive in various capacities in banking; oil and gas exploration and production; and the natural gas pipeline and services industries. Today, he serves on a variety of business and community boards.
Mr. McKenzie is co-founder of McKenzie Curtiss-Lusher & Associates LLC, a consultancy working with privately-owned businesses in the areas of management development, due diligence and strategic planning. Mr. McKenzie also is a co-founder of Nexus BSP LLC (and its affiliates): an oil and gas exploration and production company.
Mr. McKenzie holds B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan where he and his wife have endowed a scholarship for in-state undergraduate students in financial need.
Secretary and Director
Mr. Curtiss-Lusher is co-founder with Clyde E. McKenzie of McKenzie Curtiss-Lusher & Associates LLC. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nexus BSP. He has over 25 years of experience in the oil, gas and power generation industries.
Prior to his decision to pursue an entrepreneurial business career, Mr. Curtiss-Lusher practiced law in Denver, focusing his efforts in the areas of capital formation, securities and natural resources. Mr. Curtiss-Lusher’s past and present community activities include serving on and leading the boards of the Anti-Defamation League, Rose Medical Center in Denver and Colorado Public Radio. He received a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
Mr. Surber is a 40-year manufacturing veteran supplying metal and plastic components to the automotive, appliance, electronics and telecommunications industries. In 1978, Mr. Surber became President of ATF, a subsidiary of Beatrice Foods. In 1982, Mr. Surber acquired ATF and began to build a multi-divisional manufacturing business. Today, ATF is the cornerstone of a number of companies housed within Surber Investments.
To foster global partnership, he co-founded the Global Fastener Alliance (GFA), which is comprised of members from Europe, Asia and North America. He is Past Chairman of the Industrial Fastener Institute (1984-85 and 1994-95). Mr. Surber has a B.S. degree in Marketing and Economics from the School of Business at Indiana University.
Thomas C. Kinnear
Mr. Kinnear is the D. Maynard Phelps Professor of Business Administration and Marketing at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He was also the founding executive director for the internationally renowned Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the school. A longtime investor and friend of Tellurex, Mr. Kinnear brings to the company a peerless academic background as well as broad hands-on experience in the development of emerging companies. In addition, he has played an active role in the establishment and growth of capital markets, accessible by entrepreneurs, that are driving the resurgence of Michigan’s economy. Dr. Kinnear holds a M.B.A. from Harvard and a PhD. from the University of Michigan.
William McPherson is the Managing Director of McPherson Commercial Capital, LLC which he formed in June of 2002 to provide funding solutions, business planning and financial structuring assistance to a variety of businesses and investors in commercial real estate. He has assisted in arranging funding for start-ups, growth needs, restructuring situations and acquisitions of businesses. He also assists and advises in finding commercial mortgage financing for both owner-occupied and investment properties.
Mr. McPherson joined Captec Financial Group in 1982 and held a variety of positions in which he managed and developed business by providing or arranging equipment purchases and leases, real estate mortgage, sale/leaseback financing and, more broadly, arrangements and funding of acquisitions, growth initiatives and working capital lines of credit. Prior to joining Captec, Mr. McPherson was a banker in Detroit and in Ann Arbor, where he managed loan portfolios and developed commercial relationships in a variety of industries.
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan holding both B.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees. He is a past President and a director of the New Enterprise Forum in Ann Arbor where he actively participates in coaching entrepreneurs.
President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Tremp oversees strategic planning and operations management in all areas of the company. This includes business development, manufacturing and assembly, marketing, engineering, administrative support, finance and accounting. He joined Tellurex in mid-2011, as the Manager of Sales and Marketing. Mr. Tremp personally maintains direct strategic relationships with the company’s key suppliers and largest customers. Highlights of his career outside of Tellurex include positions as corporate officer and controller; small business owner; operations management; and process and program developer across business development. He has worked in capitalization strategies, financial analysis and business planning for over 25 years.
Mr. Tremp holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and a M.B.A. from Lake Superior State University.
Catherine S. Collins
CFO and Plant Manager
Ms. Collins is in charge of an array of administrative and financial functions. On the administrative side, they extend to banking, corporate insurance, certain human resources functions including benefits administration and primary business planning. In the plant, she manages labor readiness and performance as well as capital application to machinery and equipment. She is a financial officer with experience across five manufacturing firms. Prior to joining Tellurex in mid-2011, her management experience has been built on leadership roles in chemicals, tool and die, heat-treating, automotive and aerospace manufacturing companies.
Ms. Collins has a B.A. in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University and is a Certified Management Accountant. Outside of Tellurex, Ms. Collins serves on the Munson Medical Center Board of Trustees.
