Thermoelectric Temperature Controller TTC-12-24A
The Tellurex TTC-12-24A digital thermoelectric temperature controller provides PID control accuracy for Peltier cooling systems in a small economic package. Control accuracy is ±1°C and the system provides many other convenient features not often found with a thermoelectric compatible controller. This product also may be of great interest to people who use the search term “thermo electric.”
Designed specifically for Peltier Effect temperature control and coupled with the high current driver interface, this thermoelectric controller can drive up to 24amps of DC current. If the Peltier controller senses that the item to be cooled is below the set point temperature, it functions as a green technology to power down the thermoelectric and fan to conserve energy and extend the life of the system.
The Tellurex TTC-12-24A features include:
- Auto-tune capability
- Digital display
- Easy programmability
- Compatible with 11 industry standard temperature sensors
- 9-15Vdc operation, 24A @ 25°C
- Ready mode capability
- Small Package: temperature controller 24mm x 48mm x 75mm (1in. x 2 in. x 3 in.)
- Easily integrated high current driver interface: 40mm x 58mm x 24mm (1.6 in. x 2.25 in. x 1 in.)
- Power consumption: TE unit + 1.2 Watts
The Tellurex TTC-12-24A thermoelectric cooling temperature control provides a compact, microprocessor-based solution for thermoelectric temperature control with adjustable temperature, digital display, and broad compatibility. This is combined with Tellurex corporation commitment to high quality, great value, and superior performance with industry-leading reliability.
The alarm feature is used to turn the circulating fans off if there is no need for Peltier cooling to take place, activating the thermoelectric system ready mode. As the temperature of the item warms and approaches the set point the circulating fans will come on. If the temperature continues to rise the thermoelectric cooling system will activate in PID mode. The difference in the temperature for the alarms and set value is intended to prevent switching on and off unnecessarily.
Example of Operation
An electronic device inside an enclosure works optimally if the temperature remains below 40°C. A properly sized Tellurex thermoelectric cooling system such as our A45 is installed in the enclosure with the Tellurex TTC-12-24A temperature controller. The set value is at 40°C, the alarm high is set to 38°C, the alarm low is set to 37°C. As the temperature in the enclosure increases the sequence of events is this: at 38°C the circulating fans are turned on. If the temperature continues to rise, at 40°C the PID control will begin to pulse power to the thermoelectric device, the pulse width is continually adjusted until equilibrium at the set point temperature is met. If conditions are such that the heat of the electronic device begins to diminish, and the temperature begins to fall, at 40°C the power to the thermoelectric cooling is reduced to 0% duty cycle (off). As the temperature drops to 37°C the fans will turn off and the system returns to the ready mode.
