DaimlerChrysler Announces New Sebring With Tellurex Technology

July 5, 2006
DaimlerChrysler formally unveiled its new Chrysler Sebring on June 22, 2006, complete with a Tellurex Corporation cup cooler/heater built into its center console. Charles Cauchy, President of Tellurex, sees a very promising future for the company's cup holder. "We envision the cup cooler/heater becoming standard equipment on many well-appointed cars. Active cup holders can become as common as CD players or air conditioning. Tellurex is proud to be the first supplier of this product and a technology leader that will develop more products for the automotive market." The Tellurex cupholder, powered by the company's Z-Max thermoelectric module, chillsbeverages to 40 degrees Fahrenheit below the interior temperature of the car.

In the heating mode, it will heat whatever is held in its customized cup to 140 degrees. By flipping a three-position rocker switch, the Tellurex cupholder can be set to either the heating or cooling mode, or turned off.

The Traverse City, Michigan-based Tellurex Corporation is a world leader in solid-state thermoelectric power generation and cooling technology.
