Tellurex featured in Michigan Governor Granholm’s Annual Speech
Tuesday, February 6, 2007
In Governor Granholm’s State-of-the-State speech to the Legislature and broadcast statewide on television Tuesday night, entitled Our Moment, Our Choice: Investing in Michigan's People, she asked two people in the audience to stand and be recognized. One of them was Chuck Cauchy, President of Tellurex Corporation.
Speaking about Michigan’s future, she said, “One sector I'm particularly bullish on is alternative energy. This new industry, so critical to our economy, our national security, and our environment is already setting up shop in Michigan. With other states clamoring for this opportunity, Michigan cannot afford to wait.
Already, eleven ethanol or biodiesel fuel manufacturing plants companies have chosen Michigan. Let me introduce to you some of the people who are making Michigan an alternative energy center right now: Daniel Russo of American Electric Car in Ferndale and Charles Cauchy from Tellurex in Traverse City.”
The response from the legislative body and guests was a resounding round of applause that filled the chamber.
Governor Granholm has visited Tellurex twice in the last 2 years, once in December of 2005 to announce her 21st Century Jobs Fund initiative and again in 2006 to acknowledge Tellurex as one of the recipients of the award. Over 500 companies competed for the $100 million jobs fund, and Tellurex was one of 61 chosen to
receive funding.
