Tellurex Corporation And Server Products, Inc.
Team Up
To Produce New Countertop Chillers

January 17, 2008

Countertop chillers will never be the same.
Thermoelectric technology is now being used to help keep fruits, vegetables, creamers and other food safely chilled below 40º F indefinitely. Tellurex Corporation recently developed the cooling engine and temperature control for the new Server Products’ Countertop Chiller. The unit holds up to two quarts while occupying a mere 7 x 7-inch footprint and costing just eight cents per day to operate. According to Ron Ripple, Server’s VP of Marketing, the countertop chiller “has unlimited potential for holding products like sliced lemons at a beverage station, cream cheese packets at a self-serve station, or dairy creamers at a coffee station, and keeping them cold.”

With the introduction of the countertop chiller, Server Products has entered the specialty refrigeration business. When there is a need to keep product cold without the space for a compressor-driven refrigeration system, the countertop chiller does the job. A major benefit of this system is temperature control. The enabling technology at the heart of the countertop chiller system is Tellurex’s Z-Max® thermoelectric module and controls. The system has a specific set point of 2 degrees C, and can maintain liquids within +/– 2 degrees C without freezing them.

Peter Schmitz, Marketing Director for Tellurex, said, “This successful collaboration with Server has really opened the doors for a host of new products in food service where precise and reliable refrigeration can be achieved in a very small footprint. There are some exciting new things to come”.

Server Products produces a full line of restaurant equipment, condiment pumps, food warmers, hot topping dispensers, and other food serving solutions.

Their first product to incorporate thermoelectric technology is EZ-Cream™, a chilled cream dispenser. A quiet, smaller and lower-cost alternative to mechanical refrigeration, this simple unit features a removable cream vessel and is listed under NSF standard 20. The locking top is a deterrent to product tampering which is a growing concern in all self-service applications.

Tellurex specializes in the engineering and manufacturing of thermoelectric modules and systems for thermal management and micro power generation applications. Tellurex delivers high performance thermoelectric products to both large and small volume customers in the food service, medical, military, and automotive industries. With patented material science and manufacturing techniques, Tellurex produces its Z-Max ® thermoelectric modules that deliver extremely efficient solid state heat-pumping for both cooling and heating. Tellurex also leads the world in the development and manufacture of systems that generate electric power from a variety of heat sources.
