Tellurex

Defense and Security Thermoelectric

Tellurex provides the US military and security OEMs with thermoelectric components, subassemblies and engineering services. Our engineering center and products support portable power generation, more efficient and quiet base generators and stealth deployment through thermal signature reduction. We also support long distance laser recharging of battery operated combat equipment, cool suits, and long field deployment of equipment and people. And we offer significant contributions to casualty survival and reduction of long-term injury severity, advanced warfare and survival gear, perimeter security challenges, and more.

To support thermoelectric product development, particularly in programs with exacting requirements, Tellurex has power generation, cooling and heating devices designed to fit a variety of control, packaging and shipping constraints. With 64 modules, superior temperature ranges (Delta T) for heating and cooling with precise modulation in 0.1°C increments, and over three million unit delivery capacity, we believe that our products offer the best performance across a variety of common industry price points.

Envisioned developments of our technology include:

  • Portable Power Generation for field battery recharging. Tellurex can assist in the development of portable power generators to recharge combat computers and communication equipment in the field. Lightweight fuel pellets effectively activate the power generation units, reducing the need for soldiers to carry heavy batteries and enabling them to carry more ammunition, firepower and defensive ordnance.
  • More Efficient Base Generators utilize thermoelectric technology for greater power output and shorter run time, plus improved cold weather starting.
  • Thermal Signature-Reduced Stealth Technology is enhanced through powerful electric motors, in both land vehicles and naval ships and submarines, thanks to heat sink charging that enables powerful batteries to continue recharging when the engines are switched off. The thermal signature of a fighting vehicle can be greatly reduced to appear to be much smaller and lethal than it actually is. Rapid recharging of batteries is enabled upon activation.
  • Long Distance Laser Recharging of thermoelectric power generators enable refueling to be physically decoupled from the fighting vehicle or drone. This reduces lost combat effectiveness for maintenance intervals. It also helps to eliminate enemy targeting of forward combat maintenance activity centers.
  • Cool Suits enable tank drivers and ground soldiers to patrol and fight with maximum effectiveness and range in hot, dry and tropical battlefields. Alternatively, in creative ambush scenarios, cool suits reduce the ability to detect the thermo signatures of deployed soldiers, helping to reduce casualties and allowing deadly force to be more effectively used against hostile targets.
  • Thermoelectric powered fans that sit atop wood or oil burning stoves circulate heat and dehumidify portable living space to help enable long Field Deployment in cold weather. Tellurex solutions warm soldiers and protect sensitive computerized equipment while dramatically reducing fuel transport and storage demands.
  • Casualty survival and long-term injury reduction are improved by thermoelectric blankets, which can quickly cool a victim's core temperature to precise levels that may be set to 0.1°C accuracy. Modulation and rate of cooling may be precisely calibrated. Conversely, hypothermia victims can be stabilized in carefully controlled increments to protect the victim's organs by carefully controlling blood flow to extremities. Our devices may be powered by rescue vehicle electrical systems, or with 110 and 220-volt system standard electrical sources or by conventional transportable batteries.
  • Advanced Warfare Weapons and Survival Gear are possible through collaboration with the experienced thermoelectric engineers of Tellurex, sustaining combat advantage over aggressor forces in the ongoing technology arms race.
  • Perimeter security challenges may be resolved with Tellurex thermoelectric modules and subassemblies. For tilt and pan monitoring towers, our thermoelectric modules may be used to prevent icing and freeze up. Remote monitoring posts can be recharged over great distances by non-contact lasers, using Tellurex products both to manage laser heat and to provide heat sink non-contact charging of batteries.
